Job Details
This role involves providing support to children & young people who have experienced significant childhood adversity and who, at times, may be experiencing significant distress and distress related behaviours.
The role involves ensuring appropriate levels of supervision of young people. Residential Childcare Workers are expected to be with and alongside young people for the duration of their shift.
The role involves an ability to attune to the emotional states that young people display, being able to perceive emotional states underpinning behaviours and to think about what this may feel like for young people.
The role involves an ability to support young people to understand the emotional and behavioural states they display. This involves supporting young people to think about what their emotions and behaviours may mean.
The role involves supporting young people to have an active social and leisure life. This means an active and enthusiastic willingness to get out and about with young people. Supporting them to engage in community activities, sports, hobbies etc.
The successful applicant will be expected to uphold professional standards as detailed by the SSSC and the Care Inspectorate.
Enhancements for unsocial hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Pay is every 4 weeks and annualised for 38 week contracts.
Training - access to and support with training opportunities and qualifications for the job.
Pension - membership of Fife Pension Fund which is part of the Scottish Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS Scotland).

The Person
Experience of working with young people who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences.
An understanding of the concepts and principles of Attachment Promoting & Trauma Informed Care.
Must be able to see beyond presenting behaviours and to display empathy, compassion and hope for young people.
Needs to understand that this is a demanding and, at times, very tough job. A high level of composure and resilience is required.
Must have an HNC in Social Care and SVQ III, or be willing to work toward these qualifications and register with SSSC.
A full driving licence is essential or an active willingness to use public transport with young people.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you`re registered within the required six months. More details are included in the role profile.
