Business Development Executive - North
Grade UE08: £48,350 - £59,421 per annum.
The Data Lab / College of Science and Engineering
Full Time: 35 hours per week.
Fixed Term: Until July 2027
The Opportunity:
This is a high profile role requiring a strong business development and technical background. The success of this role is important to the success of a significant element of The Data Lab target business.
The Business Development Executive – North (BDE) will be responsible for a particular market sector and a geographic area in Scotland focused on Aberdeen; Dundee; Stirling; Inverness and surrounding areas. The role will report directly to the Director for Partnerships and Business Development (DfPBD) and on occasion there may also be a requirement to deputise for the DfPBD.
The BDE will be a member of a small team and their place of work will be located in The Data Lab hub in Aberdeen. The BDE’s target, over a 3 year period, will be to deliver their share of The Data Lab’s Business Development targets (circa 30%).

The Data Lab enables cutting edge data and AI innovation while also helping all sectors practically implement data and AI in a responsible and productive way to solve real world challenges to both economic and societal problems in Scotland and beyond. Our support includes connecting academic and industry specialists to drive positive change through innovation in addition to helping individuals to further their careers in data and AI.
We offer services including CPD (Online and facilitated education); an MSc Student program for Data Science and AI students; The Data Lab Community; our Partner Program; Innovation Funding initiatives and collaborative project opportunities between academia and industry amongst many others. The successful candidate will have experience of some or all of these areas and experience working in a role related to CPD and online education would be advantageous.
