PORGERA | Accountant, Senior - Capital & Projects
New Porgera Limited (NPL) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join the Capital and Projects Department. As a Senior Accountant in the Capital and Projects Department, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of capital projects within the company. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with financial regulations, contributing to the successful delivery of capital projects.
An ideal candidate must satisfy the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on capital projects or project accounting
- Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
- Knowledge of the mining industry is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Development
Key duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage the financial reporting and analysis for capital projects
- Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with overall financial goals
- Monitor and track project expenditures, ensuring they are within approved budgets
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including cost analysis, variance analysis, and forecasting
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and external regulations
- Conduct financial audits and provide recommendations for process improvements
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for senior management
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff
