Your role and responsibilities
As the Preparing for Adulthood Manager, you`ll play a crucial role in shaping the future of young people with SEND in Suffolk.
You will:
- lead a strategic review to ensure the 4 key areas of Preparing for Adulthood as set out in the SEND Code of Practice are embedded into the Local Area Partnership to support children and young people with SEND to prepare for adulthood
- collaborate with partners across the council, ICB, education sector, and voluntary organizations to support CYP with SEND in preparing for adulthood
- ensure children and young people with SEND views inform improvements to services
- work with FE Colleges, sixth forms and Post 16 Education to develop support for children and young people with SEND
- work on reducing the number of young people not in education, employment, or training
- maintain and update the Suffolk Local Offer website with vital information to provide information directly to children and young people with SEND and their parents/carers
- provide training and induction on Preparing for Adulthood principles.

You will need:
- proven leadership and interpersonal skills
- comprehensive understanding of SEND legislation and policies
- experience in successfully managing relevant services
- ability to influence, persuade, and motivate staff and colleagues
- strong project management and problem-solving skills
- commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

The team
You`ll be joining our SEND Services team within Suffolk County Council`s Inclusion department. We work alongside other Inclusion functions like Special Education Services, SEND Funding and Provider Services, and Psychology and Therapeutic Services. Our team is dedicated to ensuring young people with SEND are well-supported as they transition into adulthood, helping them achieve their potential and lead fulfilling, independent lives.
