Job Title: Commercial Finance Analyst 

Location: Head Office, Leicester

.About the Team 

The Product Finance team plays a crucial role in supporting Next’s  product teams and providing vital financial analysis to ensure we are continually maximising profits. We are seeking to recruit a Commercial Finance Analyst to be involved in the reporting of sales as well as using data to manage profitability and to make key commercial decisions on how to improve profit with customer satisfaction and level of profit being key to decision making.

About the Role 

You will: 

• Be responsible for the forecasting and budgeting of the Retail P&L from sales through to net margin.
• Provide commentary on variances to forecast and prior year.
• Be responsible for the weekly reporting & analysis on the company’s Gross Margin performance vs target. This includes supporting the Product teams to understand any variances & provide any ad hoc analysis as required.
• Reporting on the Mid and End of season sale performance.
• Support on the production of the seasonal product group profitability that gets presented to divisional directors.
• Be responsible for the cost management of the Product teams across Head Office. This includes budgeting, forecasting, monthly reviews vs forecast, accruals & prepayments with the support of 1 direct report.

About You

• Previous experience in a similar commercial finance role and ideally working towards a professional accounting qualification.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret large volumes of data in a meaningful way to non financial colleagues. 
• Ability to build strong relationships with employees across multiple business areas and have excellent influencing skills. 
• Strong analytical skills including using Excel and other systems to examine data. 
• SQL / Power BI skills would be advantageous but not essential
• A proven ability to work under pressure and manage simultaneous priorities
