Telephone Support Line Operator
- Suffolk Mind, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 1TZ
- £9,459.60 per annum (£25,000 pro rata) plus unsociable hours rate of 20% increase after 10pm
- 14 hours per week, Wednesday and Saturday (5.50pm – 1.10am)
- Part Time

Suffolk Mind’s mission is to make Suffolk the best place in the world for talking about and taking care of mental health, and to assist with this we are looking to recruit a Telephone Support Line Operator.
Suffolk Night Owls is a project within Suffolk Mind that provides a night-time telephone support line, it’s available to anyone in Suffolk who needs emotional support including those with complex emotional needs.
We are looking for a part-time individual who has excellent telephone skills and our able to comfortably deal with challenging calls.
Key requirements for this role:
- Previous experience of working with people within the mental health field and people suffering mental distress.
- Previous experience of providing support in a 121 setting.
- Educated to a good standard with excellent communication skills
- Previous experience of taking calls on a helpline.
- Good listening and people skills with the ability to communicate clearly with a range of people
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours working shifts including weekends and bank holidays
