Salary: FC3 £22,525.71 - £23,633.23 - Successful candidate will be placed on a salary scale commensurate with their qualifications and experience
Working Pattern: 36 hours per week
Location: Bankhead Depot, Glenrothes with occasional visits to Halbeath Depot, Dunfermline

Job Details
Reporting to the Lead Consultant (Maintenance Operations), this is a Technical Assistant role within the Maintenance Unit within the Roads and Transportation Service. The post will have an emphasis on Street Lighting operations although knowledge of Street Lighting/Electrical installations is not required. The postholder will also be expected to assist in a wide range of maintenance operational duties.
The main purpose of the role is to provide a technical support service such as maintaining computer systems and processes to support the Street Lighting team to carry out their operation duties.
Using current computer based applications to carry out a wide range of duties including:
- Monitoring incoming faults and allocating to the appropriate unit.
- Inputting fault repair details into the street lighting management system and closing off the fault.
- Update the Scottish Power fault database and pass on fault details to Scottish Power.
- Update the street lighting management system with programme replacement details.
- Supporting information and records management such as electronic and paper filing systems.
- Deliver a back office service providing a high standard of customer care in communication to others within the team.
- Assisting Managers with the reporting and follow up of repairs and maintenance.
- Liaise with non Fife Council employees e.g. Scottish Power, Contractors etc.
The role is customer focused and plays a key role in the effective response to Street Lighting and other emergencies.
The Person
You should be educated to SVQ1 level with 3 Standard Grades with moderate work experience in an office environment.
You should possess good communication skills and be able to transfer these in different circumstances e.g dealing with non Fife Council employees, senior members of Fife Council.
You should possess good organisation skills and time management skills.
You should be a good team player as well as being able to work alone and unsupervised at times.
You should be familiar with using IT applications and have the ability to learn non standard systems.
